New Moon in Cancer 2023

This new moon highlights some long running trends in the heavens.  Pluto is hovering at the last degrees of Capricorn where he will stay until January 2024 when he revisits Aquarius.  This intensifies the collapse of old systems and structures, as the powers that be tighten their grip as a last ditch attempt to hold on to power. Pluto is in a square aspect to the nodal axis until November 2023, intensifying pressure to evolve to a higher level of consciousness and destroying all that is not in alignment.

Significantly, ​hours​​ after this new moon, the nodal axis shifts from the Taurus (North Node) / Scorpio (South Node) axis to the Aries /Libra axis of relationship. The nodes change signs every 18 months and indicate a new karmic cycle.  The Libra Aries focus is on releasing (South Node) what is weighing us down, especially in relationships, and embracing (North Node) our sense of self and self direction.

The new moon in Cancer opposes Pluto and squares the nodes, forming a dynamic and action orientated grand cardinal cross.  Cancer is the sign of emotions, home, family, nurture, mother, the past, memory, habitual patterns and emotional safety and security.  The Moon is at home in Cancer, the sign of her rulership, supporting us to connect with our emotional body.  Pluto’s influence helps us to feel intense emotions and release emotional blockages, clearing the path for a rebalancing in our relationship dynamics.

Neptune trines the new moon, bringing a spiritual quality of the divine feminine cosmic mother.  Uranus sextiles the new moon, bringing change and helping to transform outdated habitual patterns.  There is a transpersonal and karmic quality to this new moon, with all three transpersonal planets as well as the nodes influencing the new moon.

Venus is nearing her retrograde through Leo, emphasising the focus on rethinking relationships, values, finances and matters of the heart.
